Can I Display My USDOT Number Decal Sticker Vertically? USDOT Lettering Guidelines

We have seen many truckers displaying their USDOT, GVW, MC, CA, KYU or other regulation numbers vertically and this is not DOT compliant. You must display your USDOT number horizontally in this format “USDOT 123456 CA”. This is more crucial if you have to display more information that just a USDOT number.
A few things to keep in mind that your USDOT number or any regulation number must be displayed on both sides of your commercial vehicle and it must be visible from a distance of at least 50 feet away. You must an easy-to-read font and the color must contrast with the color of the vehicle. If you need to display more information that a USDOT number, we recommend upgrading to a template design.
